About the Rangers

Organizationally, the initial three light infantry Special Troops are identical.  They are all among the US top special forces and are considered rapidly deployable and specialized in skills which qualify them for a number of distinct operation missions, including airborne, air assault and direction action operations.  They are also skillfully trained to execute raids, infiltration and exfiltration by air, land and sea along with personnel and equipment recovery, airfield seizure and support of general purpose forces.  Each of the three battalions rotate as the “Ranger Ready Force”, though the others are always on stand-by and all units are expected to be prepared for deployment to reach anywhere in the world within 18 hours.

The 75th Ranger Regiment is an all-volunteer force, though the selection and screening process for applicants is intense.  Once selected, combat-focused training is received. Throughout the training, Rangers are taught to be proficient and to always be ready.  The units take great pride in their training and the service they provide.

The Rangers have played significant roles throughout all major conflicts the US has been involved in since World War II.  More recently, this US Army Special Operations Unit – the 75th Ranger Regiment – has taken part in the Afghanistan and Iraq Campaigns.
